Your Vote Counts!

Dear reader, consider yourself loved. Consider yourself valued.
Consider yourself... solicited.

Trevor and I are working on Laila's middle name. As I've mentioned, this is a serious decision. The world will call this child by the name we give her for the rest of her life. And, of course, her middle name is especially important because this is what she'll be hearing from us every time she gets in trouble... I'm joking, of course. Laila will never be in trouble... Ahem. Anyway.
These things can't be taken lightly at any rate!

So, we'd like your opinion...

Here are the finalists, in no particular order:
Laila Layne Chapman
Laila Grace Chapman
Laila Zoe Chapman
Laila Belle Chapman

Trevor would like for me to tell you that he reserves the right to completely ignore the results of this survey (he's just being spicey, you see) but I promise that your thoughtful comments will be valued and carefully considered.

Your Vote Counts!

  2. First of all, I LOVE your options. I've always been a fan of Grace, and for many reasons. As it is an attribute of God's character, it is also strong, while exuding femininity and beauty.

So on most occasions, I'd go with Laila Grace, but for whatever reason, I find myself drawn to Belle. Laila Belle Chapman. Yep, my vote goes to Belle! =)

  5. I really like Laila Belle! Maybe because I love Beauty and the Beast.....? :)

Laila Grace is pretty, too....good luck choosing!

  6. I like Laila Layne and Laila Grace. (But keep in mind I was born in California. Laila Belle is so beautifully southern;).

It was so good to see you today :). xoxo

  7. Oh, all so wonderful! I think Laila Belle suits you...being so southern. And it makes me think of Beauty (and the Beast). But really they all are lovely.

  8. I'm a fan of Laila Belle (mostly because my Beau.......needs a Belle), and you know how I love me some Southern names. ;) Love you friend, can't wait to see you next weekend!!

  9. I'm late to the party! But I hope the polls are still open? My top two are Grace (clearly I love that name!) and Layne. Layne sounds lovely and southern to me as well, but less "done" than Belle. (In my humble opinion.) As for Grace, the spiritual signigicance can't be beat! If you wanna, you can read why we named our Grace here. It's a beautiful definition of the word...

  10. Hmmm. My link didn't work. So I'll post it here in an obnoxiously long comment. You're welcome! This is written by Frederick Buechner...

"After centuries of handling and mishandling, most religious words have become so shopworn nobody's much interested anymore. Not so with grace, for some reason. Mysteriously, even derivatives like gracious and graceful still have some of the bloom left.

Grace is something you can never get but can only be given. There's no way to earn it or deserve it or bring it about any more than you can deserve the taste of raspberries and cream or earn good looks or bring about your own birth.

A good sleep is grace and so are good dreams. Most tears are grace. The smell of rain is grace. Somebody loving you is grace. Loving somebody is grace. Have you ever tried to love somebody?

A crucial eccentricity of the Christian faith is the assertion that people are saved by grace. There's nothing you have to do. There's nothing you have to do. There's nothing you have to do.

The grace of God means something like: 'Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are, because the party wouldn't have been complete without you. Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don't be afraid. I am with you. Nothing can ever separate us. It's for you I created the universe. I love you.'

There's only one catch. Like any other gift, the gift of grace can only be yours if you'll reach out and take it.

Maybe being to reach out and take it is a gift too.”

  11. Amy Lynn Elizabeth Michelle Hubbart, (I don't know your middle name so I just chose a few...) dang, girl, that is GOOOOOOD. I have chillbumps all over. Thank you! Thank you for sharing that with us! How precious.
Trevor is still in limbo but I am going to share these words with him and, soon, we'll have a decision to share with all of you!

Last Sunday, we sang "Amazing Grace" at church and I wept all the way through it... I think I know what my vote is!

    Love you, Amy.
And thank you to all of you who took the time to vote! Love to you!

  12. I'm with Amy on Grace! Love that one and think the sound of Laila Grace is so lovely. Especially like it because our Abby Grace truly has taken on the meaning of Grace..it's so precious to see her live out her name, I know Laila would too. And..how sweet that our girls could possibly have the names Laila Grace and Leah Mercy...Grace and Mercy..definite BFF bonding there! Last thing...you got Amy's middle name right, Elizabeth. Dang girl, you're good! ;)

    Belle is my vote.
